The extent of the failures highlighted in the Police Conduct Authority report into the handling of child abuse cases, has surprised one organisation.
Child Protection Training Organisation, CPS, says it knew the system was not working, but the extent of the problem is disappointing.
CEO Anthea Simcock, says long delays in dealing with child abuse, leaves the children in a terrible limbo and a wait of five years or more may equate to more than half their lives.
She says, while the children may have been saved from continuing abuse, they need to know they are believed and that something is going to happen.
